3:16 THURSDAY::::week five

3:16 Thursdays is a series of blog posts focusing on the 3:16 passages throughout the Bible that have really stuck out to me in my studies from Genesis to Revelation.

Daniel 3:16
(niv)
"Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, 'O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter.'"

These guys were experiencing TRUE FREEDOM. They were getting their feet put to the fire, literally, to bow down to another god and they would not. They understood the consequences, but they faced it with confidence, because they had faith in the one true God. The freedom they had in God caused them to face the king without being defensive. When we have true faith, we have true freedom. This equals peace and rest in God. Not anger and defensiveness. Unfortunately, peace, rest and faith is not what Christianity is known for today. We need to look at this story and be inspired by this great example of faith in Daniel.
