Music Monday 19

This is a post that you can participate in on every Monday. Everyone likes music, and there are obviously many tastes in music. This is here to see what different types of music are filling everyone's lives. Chime in!

Being a worship leader at a church, I often hear people say, "I want you to sing "......" at my funeral. So...

What do you want to be played at your funeral?

I actually have no requests. I want them to play whatever songs they want to. I really won't be there.

your turn...

My dad had a big list of all sorts of stuff he wanted for his funeral, including songs. I'm sure he meant it to be rock solid, but we had to treat it as a guide or wish list. As for me, I don't even care if they have a funeral for me, I feel that funerals are really for the people that are still alive and mourning, so they should do it however they need to.

Well this is sort of odd... as it's still a song I want played at my funeral. I was in a situation in my early 20s where I felt there was a chance that I may not come home alive.. so I planned my funeral (a letter telling people what to wear... no dark somber clothes, music to be played, etc.) and wrote out my last will and testament.

Praise God I did not die on that journey and still 20+ years later I want this song played at my funeral...
Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding by Elton John... yes, a strange choice... anything else... I really don't care.

Why? well, because my mom died when I was in my 20s and still to this day I cry almost uncontrollably at the songs/hyms that she had picked for her funeral. I don't want that memory for my daughters.
