Here's the scripture that stuck this week:
Luke 20:46-47
46 “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts,
47 who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”
Wow...these statements can definitely make you unpopular, quick. Unfortunately, as Jesus was dealing with the religious people of His day, it can also apply to a lot of Christian leaders of our day. I love what Louie Giglio said once: "Pride is basically saying you've never really seen God." The best seats, the nicest clothes, and great performances are not success in God's eyes, but they are, unfortunately, signs of success in the world's standards. Hmmm...what kind of success am I striving for?
What's your Word?
