Sorry this is a day late...I had a crazy two days.
Here's the scripture that stuck this week:
Mark 7:6-8 ESV
6 And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,
“‘This people honors me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me;
7 in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
8 You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”
I heard John Piper speak on this one time. He pointed out that doctrine without passion is short of true worship, and vice-versa. It's great to study God's Word and to have a solid doctrine, but it's equally as important to love God with all our heart, mind, and soul. It makes me wonder if you really can have a sound doctrine and not understand that principle.
What's your Word?
