Word Wednesday is posted every Wednesday. Each week I post a scripture that I've read that week that has spoken to me in a fresh way. I believe that if we read God's Word every day, He will give us at least one scripture every week that will impact us. Sharing Scripture with each other is like iron sharpening iron.
To participate, do your own post on your blog about your Word for the week, and link it to the bottom of my post every week by using the application provided below. Always leave me a comment, so I know you dropped by, and link back to my post from yours. Thanks for participating.
Here's the scripture that stuck this week:
Jeremiah 13:1-7 ESV
1 Thus says the Lord to me, “Go and buy a linen loincloth and put it around your waist, and do not dip it in water.” 2 So I bought a loincloth according to the word of the Lord, and put it around my waist. 3 And the word of the Lord came to me a second time, 4 “Take the loincloth that you have bought, which is around your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.” 5 So I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as the Lord commanded me. 6 And after many days the Lord said to me, “Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take from there the loincloth that I commanded you to hide there.” 7 Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and I took the loincloth from the place where I had hidden it. And behold, the loincloth was spoiled; it was good for nothing.
In 2004, I was in Nashville getting our church praise team album mixed and mastered. Sometimes, when I drive and travel, I'll where my comfy adidas pants. When I packed for the trip, I neglected to pack my belt for my jeans that I would be wearing. The first morning, I woke up in the hotel room and discovered the missing item. I then went to a nearby K-mart and purchased the cheapest, skinniest, most 80ist looking belt I could find. Then, I went back to the hotel, grabbed my Bible, and went and had breakfast. In my reading that day, I started on this passage. I was reading the NIV, and it said "linen belt". This all happened in conjunction within about 30 minutes. God truly used that experience to show me this great passage. I never want to be considered useless, or good for nothing to God.
