Worship Confessional 08.24.08

Today's worship was special. We had a rough week here in "321". Tropical Storm Fay was a mad lady that decided to hover over our area for a couple of days and ended up flooding a lot our city. We had people coming to church today carrying in the burden of flooded homes and evacuations. It was a touch situation to approach. God put the words in my mouth. I didn't plan on saying it, but it was appropriate. I just said, "Well, we've had a crazy week, but we're here right now. Let's just leave the week behind us for a little while enjoy God's presence together." I felt a united "Amen". Not audibly, I just felt it from the people. We had a great set. A highlight was "Your Name". That's got to be one of the greatest worship songs I've heard in a very long time. It's so powerful. I quoted Acts 4:11-12 over the people. It was somewhat of an evangelistic moment in the middle of our worship set. I just really felt led to go there.

Here was the set list:

"Creation Praise"-mine
"Your Name"-Paul Baloche
"All Who are Thirsty"-Brenton Brown
"My Peace"-mine

This is also a contribution to Sunday Setlists.

Hey Gary,
Thanks again for being a part of Sunday Setlists. We got our fill of rain from Fay up here on St. Simons Island, GA... but nothing like you guys experienced.

Gary,
"Your Name" is on my "songs to introduce" list. And a great song for the people who came to your church today.

I'm checking out "Your Name" since we are about to go into a 52 week series on Jesus. Yup 52 weeks. I am so excited.
I was singing "All Who are Thirsty" yesterday, because I was reading Revelation (22:17). We are studying Revelation currently.
I have been praying for Florida, since I have friends on Merrit Island that got flooding.

Hey Gaz, we're learning "Your Name" this week, great song! I can only imagine the feelings yesterday at your church. I've never been in a flooding before (left a 3 year drought in Australia only to move to CA where it hardly ever rains... now in VA things are a little different!). Thanks for sharing mate.

Your Name RULES!!! The first time we ever did it, the congregation spontaneously rose to their feet. Really connects with our folks.

I'm with you on the song "Your Name". We did that song a few weeks ago and had great response to it.

I love "Your Name", too. We have never done it as a congregation, but I got up the courage to do "Praise Your Name" by Todd Fields (see HL's blog) last week, so maybe this one's next. Praying about when...
Have a great week!

Good for you for not just blasting through your set without being aware what people were bringing in with them. Well done.
